Hillview is a nineteenth-century, semi-detached villa with 3-4 bedrooms and a beautifully-kept secluded garden in a quiet street five minutes walk from the centre of Moffat.

Moffat is a small town at the heart of Southern Scotland. Just two miles from the M74, it is ideal for exploring Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders. Within an hour’s drive to the west are beautiful sandy beaches, castles and stately homes, hill-walking, lochs, rivers, farmlands and quiet cycling routes. To the east lie the Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall, Sir Walter Scott country and the ruined abbeys of the Borders. The coast-to-coast path, the Southern Upland Way, passes the edge of Moffat. Edinburgh and Glasgow are just over an hour away.

Hillview sits in Beechgrove, a no-through road leading to the farms at the foot of the famous local beauty spot, the Devil’s Beef Tub. The Hope Johnstone Park is opposite with tennis courts (June-Oct only), sports pavilion, football pitch, swings and the Annan Water. The house looks out onto the Moffat Hills.

The area around Moffat is popular for its walking (Moffat has an annual walking festival), bird watching and dark skies for stargazers. It is at the centre of the Seven Stanes mountain biking trails. It is with good reason that Dumfries and Galloway brands itself “the natural place”.

Costs 2008

Low Season
(Jan 5th – March 15th, Oct 18-Dec 20) £200 a week or £40 a night

Mid Season
(March 30th-June 28th, Aug 30-Oct 18) £275 per week

High Season
(March 15th-29th, June 28-Aug 30th)
£395 a week

Christmas/New Year
Dec 20th – Jan 3rd 2009
£525 a week

Electricity and Gas included.
Bed linen and towels can be provided at £5 per person extra.

Terms
10% non-returnable deposit on booking, remainder due a month before arrival.

In the event of a last minute cancellation 50% of the booking fee will be returned.

Dogs/cats accepted by prior arrangement, and with payment of a £25 deposit in case of damage.

Upstairs:
Bedroom 1: 15’ x 10’ King size bed

Bedroom 3: 11’ x 10’ One single bed

The dining-room contains two day beds.

Kitchen includes washing machine, microwave, cooker (electric oven/gas rings), fridge & freezer.
The house has two small colour TVs and a video player.
Gas central heating throughout with extra gas fires in public rooms.

The accommodation throughout is to a very good all-round standard.
